These Terms and Conditions regulate the participation of eBay sellers invited by eBay to the event eBay Exporter of the Year 2023 (the “Event”).
Who is eligible to participate?
Are eligible to participate in the Event only sellers who:
- are registered as professional sellers on one of eBay's sites;
- have been invited by eBay through written communication; and
- are at least 18 years of age or older.
Sellers who meet the above requirements are referred to as “Eligible sellers”. Participation by Eligible sellers is personal and the invitation cannot be sold/exchanged for other benefits or given to third parties not invited by eBay.
Where and when will the event be held?
The Event will be held from November 21 to 23, 2023 in Dubai, UAE. Additional details about the venue will be shared with Eligible sellers by eBay.
What does eBay offer to Eligible sellers?
For each Eligible seller, eBay will offer the following services, to the extent indicated below.
- Flight Reimbursement
eBay will reimburse each Eligible seller up to $500 USD for round-trip airline tickets to Dubai. After Eligible sellers confirm their participation, an eBay team will contact them providing all the necessary details about the procedure. If the airline ticket is paid in a currency other than U.S. dollars, this will be converted to U.S. dollars based on the current exchange rate for refund calculation. If the cost of airfare exceeds $500 for round-trip flight, the difference will be borne by the Eligible seller. Eligible sellers are responsible for obtaining any necessary travel documents (passport, visa, etc.). Eligible sellers must have a valid passport and visa to enter Dubai - if any assistance is needed in issuing a visa, eBay can support and assist via a third party vendor. - Accommodation
eBay offers each Eligible seller 2 nights at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City. The hotel and room type is decided by eBay and is not subject to change requests. If the Eligible seller is interested in a room upgrade, this will be at his or her expense, as well as any extra charges beyond the cost of the room (e.g., but not limited to, mini bar, room service, food delivered, or any additional services offered by the hotel/personal expenses). For room upgrades or any other special requests, please reach out to one of the eBay contacts listed below.
Event Participation
Eligible sellers who will commit to taking part at the event (“Attending sellers”) are expected to attend all scheduled activities and sessions during the Event. Attending sellers are requested to provide at least 2 weeks’ notice if they will not be able to attend the event, failing to do so may result in denying the benefits offered by eBay unless the non-attendance is due to force majeure. eBay reserves the right to make changes to the Event schedule, venue, or activities. Any such changes will be communicated to the Eligible/Attending sellers as soon as reasonably possible.
General
The Event is organized by eBay Marketplaces GmbH, whose address is Helvetiastrasse 15/17, CH-3005, Bern, Switzerland and, who may carry out this organization through its local subsidiaries. eBay reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Eligible and Attending sellers will be informed of any significant changes via email or other appropriate means.
eBay will not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by Attending sellers during the Event or related travel. By attending the Event, Attending sellers agree to:
- indemnify and hold eBay harmless from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising out of or in connection with their attendance at the Event;
- comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the venue hosting the event;
- not engage in any illegal or prohibited activities during the Event, including but not limited to the possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs, weapons, or any other restricted items.
Attending sellers are responsible for obtaining adequate travel and health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Dubai. eBay reserves the right to terminate an Eligible or Attending seller's participation in the Event at its discretion, if the seller breaches any of these Terms and Conditions or exhibits behavior deemed inappropriate or detrimental to the Event or eBay's reputation.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, and shall be construed in accordance with, the laws of Switzerland. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Event, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Swiss courts.
By purchasing airline tickets and/or participating in the Event, Eligible and Attending sellers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in their entirety.
