These Terms and Conditions regulate the participation of eBay sellers invited by eBay to the event eBay Exporter of the Year 2026 (the “Event”).
Who is eligible to participate?
Only the following eBay sellers are eligible to participate in the Event (“Eligible Sellers”):
- are registered as a “business account” on one of eBay's sites;
- have been invited by eBay through written communication; and
- are at least 18 years of age or older.
Participation by Eligible Sellers is personal and the invitation cannot be sold/exchanged for other benefits or given to third parties not invited by eBay.
Where and when will the Event be held?
The Event will be held from the 30th of November, 2026 to the 1st of December 2026, at the Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Additional details regarding the venue, schedules, and programs will be shared by eBay with the Eligible Sellers at a later date.
What does eBay offer to Attending Sellers?
Eligible Sellers who commit to taking part at the Event and actually participate in the Event (“Attending Sellers”), will be eligible for the flight and hotel benefits to the extent indicated below.
- Flight Reimbursement
Attending Sellers shall purchase their own flight tickets, which must have arrival and departure dates no earlier than two (2) days prior to the Event start date and no later than two (2) weeks after the Event end date. Upon arrival at the venue, eBay will reimburse a maximum amount for round-trip airline tickets to Colombo, Sri Lanka, with reimbursement limits varying based on the geographic area of the country of departure, as described in the table below. The reimbursement process will be communicated accordingly. No plus-one/extra guest’s flights will be reimbursed by eBay.

In order to claim reimbursement, Attending Sellers must provide eBay with a valid copy of the purchase receipt for their flight ticket. If the airline ticket is paid in a currency other than U.S. dollars, the amount will be converted into U.S. dollars based on the prevailing exchange rate for the purpose of reimbursement calculation. Any airfare cost exceeding the Maximum Reimbursement Amount per Attending Seller for a round-trip flight shall be the sole responsibility of the Attending Seller. All Attending Sellers are responsible for securing, paying for and maintaining the necessary travel documents, including but not limited to valid passports and visas. In addition, Attending Sellers will be contacted by eBay’s authorized service provider for reimbursement of applicable costs or expenses. Any information collected from sellers will be subject to the service provider’s privacy policy. Late submissions will not be accepted, and reimbursements will not be processed for delayed entries.
- Accommodation
eBay shall pay for the accommodation of each Attending Seller for 2 (two) nights at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The hotel and room type is decided by eBay and is not subject to change requests. If the Attending Seller is interested in a room upgrade or opts to bring a plus-one/extra guest, this will be at his or her expense, as well as any extra charges beyond the cost of the room (e.g., including but not limited to, meals, mini bar, room service, food delivered, or any additional services offered by the hotel/personal expenses). Event Participation
Attending Sellers are expected to attend all scheduled activities and sessions during the Event. Eligible Sellers are requested to provide at least 2 weeks’ notice if they will not be able to attend the Event, unless the delay in notice is due to force majeure. eBay reserves the right to make changes to the Event schedule, venue, or activities. Any such changes will be communicated to the Eligible/Attending Sellers as soon as reasonably possible.
Non-Refundable Policy
All payments made by Attending Sellers for themselves and their plus-one/extra guest at the eBay Event are non-refundable and cannot be applied toward other Event activities or services. If an Attending Seller or their plus-one/extra guest cancels or does not participate in the Event, no refunds or reimbursements will be issued. Attending Sellers are advised to confirm their availability and that of their plus-one/extra guest before completing payment.
Consent and release
By agreeing to this terms and conditions, you irrevocably authorize eBay Marketplaces GmbH, located at Helvetiastrasse 15/17, CH-3005, Bern, Switzerland, and any of its local affiliates (collectively referred to as “eBay”), to:
- Use any pictures, videos, testimonials, or media that depict you and your plus-one/extra guest (if any) (the “Media”) in connection with eBay’s offline and online platforms, advertisements, marketing, events, editorial content, and promotions.
- Reproduce, publish, display, and distribute the Media globally in any format, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Use your name, likeness, voice, location (city/state), and any biographical information as part of the Media.
- Edit, modify, or combine the Media with other materials, at eBay’s discretion and sublicense these rights to third parties.
By submitting your consent, you acknowledge on (behalf of yourself and your plus-one/extra guest (if any)) that the Media may be posted online and made publicly visible, which could include access from users outside the intended region. This incidental access will not be considered a violation of these Terms and Conditions.
You waive (on behalf of yourself and your plus-one/extra guest (if any)) any rights to inspect or approve the Media or any accompanying material created by eBay, including moral rights related to the content.
General
The Event is organized by eBay Marketplaces GmbH which may carry out this organization through its local affiliates. eBay reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Eligible and Attending Sellers will be informed of any significant changes via email or other appropriate means.
eBay will not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by Attending Sellers or their plus-one/extra guest during the Event or related travel. By attending the Event, Attending Sellers agree to, on behalf of themselves and their plus-one/extra guest, if any:
- indemnify and hold eBay harmless from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising out of or in connection with their attendance (including the attendance of any plus-one/extra guest) at the Event;
- comply (and ensure that their plus-one/extra guest complies) with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations of Sri Lanka, the country of their departure and the venue hosting the Event;
- not engage (and ensure that their plus-one/extra guest does not engage) in any illegal or prohibited activities during the Event, including but not limited to the possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs, weapons, or any other restricted items.
Attending Sellers are responsible for obtaining adequate travel and health insurance coverage for themselves and their plus-one/extra guest, if any, for the duration of their stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka. eBay reserves the right to terminate an Eligible or Attending Seller's participation (including that of their plus-one/extra guest) in the Event at its discretion, if the such person breaches any of these Terms and Conditions or exhibits behavior deemed inappropriate or detrimental to the Event or eBay's reputation.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, and shall be construed in accordance with, the laws of Switzerland. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Event, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Swiss courts.
By purchasing airline tickets to attend the Event and/or participating in the Event, Eligible and Attending Sellers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in their entirety.
