eBay International Shipping: Updated ‘Exclude Shipping Locations ‘settings for selected sellers

  • #Announcements

When you ship a package with eBay International Shipping (eIS), you’re only responsible for getting it to our shipping hub here in the U.S. and eBay will help you with the rest. eBay will be responsible for the preparation of international paperwork, customs clearance, international shipping and returns, and related costs for transactions and you will also be protected from damage or loss of items caused by international shipping.

Previously, for eBay sellers who use eIS, eBay did not ship your listings to countries where you didn’t offer shipping services (if you had used the “Exclude shipping locations” function), regardless of whether you had opted out of that country.

Now, our new update introduces a toggle that allows eligible items to be sent to locations that you have excluded. Please note that eBay has toggled on the new feature for some sellers who use eIS services, but you can still turn it off at any time by going to the page shown in the path below.

  1. Go to Account Settings > Shipping Preferences
  2. Click “Edit” next to exclude shipping locations and locate the toggle under “eBay International Shipping settings”.
    1. If the toggle is ON, eligible items will ship to your excluded locations through eBay International Shipping.
    2. If the toggle is OFF, your exclusions will apply to all listings regardless of the shipping service used, whether this is eBay International Shipping or any other international shipping options.
  3. Adjust the toggle to your preferred setting and click “Save”.

If you choose to turn off the new feature, the exclusion will revert to the way you manually set it up, and you'll need to manage the logistics associated with it.

eBay will also toggle on the new feature for more eBay sellers in the near future. Relevant information has been sent to your registered email address, please read it in time and take action accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

How will this new feature affect my eBay account?

A: For transactions using the new features of eIS, eBay will assume responsibility for international paperwork preparation, customs clearance, international shipping and returns, and related costs, and you will also be protected from damage or loss of items caused by international shipping. If any complications arise during the eBay international shipping phase, the seller can keep a record of the sale without any negative impact on your eBay account. For example, in the case of VERO, If an item is displayed on eBay International Shipping and there is a VeRO, eBay will modify or remove the listing from eBay International Shipping. Negative account consequences won't be applied to the seller's account. If you offer additional international shipping services, you'll need to go to the 'Exclusions' section of My eBay and manually remove the countries that can't import your items. This will help ensure you only ship to countries allowed and that you don't receive negative actions if you self-ship these products.
