What are the eBay seller fees? When should I pay?
Sellers are charged two basic fees when listing an item on eBay.
1. Insertion fees.
These are fees for placing an item for sale on eBay.
This category includes:
- fees for a listing posting;
- fees for listing upgrades (e.g. for automatic relisting).
Insertion fees are charged to your seller account at the time of listing. Insertion fees are calculated differently depending on the category of the item and the selling format you choose.
2. Final value fee.
The final value fee consists of a variable category-based percentage of the total amount of the sale (including shipping, taxes and any other applicable fees), plus a fixed fee per order. An international fee and currency conversion charges may apply.
In addition to these fees, eBay sellers may be charged other fees.
Remember, each international eBay site has its own fees policy. Please, comply it when posting a listing on international eBay site. Fees of each international eBay site will be deducted from your earnings. You can find information on fees and selling costs in the Reports section in the Payments tab of Seller Hub or My eBay. You can find more information about eBay fees here.

Choose a Business account if you:
- list items that you’ve made or bought to resell;

I've received a confirmation email
Congratulations! Publish the listing on the Stock tab and good luck selling!
Is eBaymag a paid feature?
eBaymag is a completely free tool. However, eBay can still charge listing fees, for example insertion fee, if you've exceeded your monthly zero insertion fee listings allotment and final value fees when you sell the item. eBay fees and the number of zero insertion fee listings per month vary on different international eBay sites and depend on your account and the eBay store type.
eBaymag also protects you from accidentally accumulating too many fees. If you've exceeded your monthly free listings allotment, eBay only charges you for the first listing over the allotment, and eBaymag automatically stops further listings and notifies you that the allotment has been exceeded.
What is multi-account, and what are its benefits?
eBaymag permits tying separate eBay accounts to different international sites.
This allows you to:
- Quickly copy the items from the main account to several secondary accounts.
- Subscribe to eBay Store separately for every site you want to list on and get more free listings.
- Manage all of your accounts’ orders on a single page.
To connect multiple accounts:
- Go to the Sites tab on eBaymag.
- Select the site you want to tie an account to, then click Add an account in the far right column.
- In the pop-up window, click Add account. You will be redirected to an eBay login form. Enter the data of the account you want to tie.
Upon logging in, you will be returned to eBaymag. If no further confirmation (such as your phone number) is required, click Done. - You’ll see the new account next to the site it’s tied to. All items will be listed on this site with the new tied account.

Note that only new items will be added; using this function is unsuitable for updating items that are already listed.
I'm trying to create a listing, but it isn't posted. Why?
If you can not list an item please check the following reasons:
- you did not click the Sell button;
- you reached the account limits (please, contact Customer Service to request higher selling limits);
- we could not find a proper category for your item on the international site (in this case, please try to choose it manually);
- the offered shipping option contravenes the rules of the international site, or does not have a fixed price (in this case, we recommend you select the Shipping Policy created with the eBaymag tools);
- there is not enough item information available (please, fill in the item template);
- the added item information cannot be converted into a format suitable for posting on the site (you need to check and correct item description to post the listing).
eBaymag publishes listings only if they can be adapted to the international site item showcase and meet all the rules and restrictions. Pop-up tips will help you. Please, pay attention to them, they will help you understand how to improve your listing for successful publishing.
I can’t find a listing created previously. Where is it?
You’ve probably added it to the Archive.
To see what listings have been archived:
- Click Filter on the Items tab
- Select Yes for Archived
- Apply filters
To relist the item, check its box, then click Unarchive.
I want to edit a listing. Where can I do this?
Sometimes you may need to edit your listing.
Keep in mind, that all the listings that were created and posted via eBaymag you should edit also via eBaymag. eBaymag will not save the listing editings that were made via eBay.
How to correctly fill in an item template when creating a listing manually?
When you create your listing, complete these item specifics in item template:
- title and subtitle,
- item description;
- item condition;
- item attributes;
- item variations.
Title and subtitle
In the title and subtitle tell about your item in the honest, clear and informative way. Specify its name, describe it with descriptive keywords. Include the item's brand name, artist, or designer. Try to use words, that help the buyer to find your listing by the eBay Search option (for example, use word "T-shirt" instead "singlet").
Item description
In this field specify information on the item: size, shape, color, production date, country of manufacture, important features, and markings. Specify the delivery set and describe the item's package.
Item condition.
Select the condition of your item from the Condition drop-down menu.
In the Condition description field, provide additional details about the item’s condition, such as whether it has defects, missing parts, scratches, or other wear and tear. Describe item's defects or damages as well as whether the item requires service or repair in order to function properly.
Item attributes
In the Item attributes field, you can add key characteristics of an item that will appear in a listing in Item attributes section. You should not repeat words or use synonyms, otherwise eBaymag will try to unite them in one attribute.
To add an additional attribute in an item template write it in the Attributes field and click the Add new value.
Item variations
Add all the variation details for the item that you list. For example, a t-shirt might come in multiple colors and sizes. You should provide also item numbers and codes, the quantity and price of items, so buyers could choose the variation that they want to buy.
Besides this, while creating a listing you should select from the drop-down lists:
- the language of the original listing;
- item condition
and upload item photos.
Why do I need to archive listings? What is the difference between archiving and deleting listings?
Listing archivation
eBaymag allows you to archive listings in order to hide them temporarily without deleting them, so only relevant listings remain in the list.
To archive a listing, check the item’s box and click Archive.
To access archived listings:
- Click Filter on the Items tab
- Select Yes for Archived
- Apply filters
To relist the item, check its box, then click Unarchive.
Listing deletion
Deleted listings cannot be restored.
To delete a listing, check its box, then click Delete in the list header.
Will my listings remain active on eBay after I turn eBaymag off?
If you don't want to delete all your listings at the same time with turning eBaymag off, just do not move the slider in the Delete all items from eBay option. In this case, you will only turn eBaymag off, all your listings will remain active.
How long does it take for the listing to appear on an international eBay site after clicking the Sell button?
On average, it takes up to 15 minutes for the listing to appear on an international eBay site; however, it may take up to 24 hours if you list more than 100 items across multiple international sites.
If the item was not listed after this time period, check:
- Whether you have clicked the Sell button (if not, click it)
- Whether you have reached your selling limits (if you have, contact the eBay Customer Service via Help & Contact)
Other possible delay causes:
- We could not find a proper category for your item on the international site (try choosing it manually).
- The offered shipping option contravenes the international site policies or does not have a fixed price (in this case, we recommend you to select a Shipping Policy created via eBaymag).
- There are not enough item specifics available (fill in the item form).
- Added item specifics cannot be converted into the site’s listing format (check and correct the item description).
eBaymag only publishes listings if they can be adapted to the international site item showcase and meet all restrictions.
Pop-up tips will help you improve your listing.
The listing I published via eBaymag is removed. Why?
The listing that was published via eBaymag, can be removed for several reasons:
- it violates one of eBay policies;
- it violates eBay international site policies where you were going to post it;
- the item's rights owner (for example, Coach or Louis Vuitton) asked us to remove it. (according to eBay policy, the intellectual property rights owners can ask eBay to remove certain listings that offer items or contain materials that infringe on their intellectual property rights. These rights can include trademark, copyright, and/or other legal rights);
- another seller has the rights to sell such item (authorized distributor, for example);
- we've received a message warning your listing did not comply the eBay policies.
When your listing is removed, you'll receive an email notifying you the reasons. Also, you can see the reasons for listing removing as a notification above the page.
What should I add to the Subtitle field? Why is this option paid?
Adding a subtitle to your listing can increase buyer interest by providing more descriptive information about an item.
You can add a subtitle in the listing form. Please note: it is the paid option on most international eBay sites.
Include the following details:
- additional information about what you're selling (for example, the brand name, artist, designer, accessories, and options);
- information on item's characteristics that may be of interest to buyers.
For example:
Title: Apple MacBook Air 13 notebook computer
Subtitle: CPU Intel Core i5, RAM 4 Gb, 128 GB HD
Keep in mind:
- subtitles are visible when buyers view search results in the List view (not in the Gallery view);
- subtitle text isn't searchable when buyers do a standard title search for items. However, the subtitle is searchable if a buyer includes the description in an advanced search.
Why can't I create auction-style listings?
The eBaymag technical limits do not allow to create auction-style listings yet. We are going to add the function of duplicating auction-style listings in the near future.
Items, Selling and Shipping
What price should I set for my items?
You can set for your items any market price. However, in order your listing could compete with the listings of other eBay sellers, follow the rules:
- do not set too high price. Compare the prices of the same items that are currently active or have sold on eBay. It helps you analyze the market situation and set optimal price.
- do not set too low price. Otherwise, you will have offset it by unreasonably high shipping price.;
- include shipping cost to the item price at once. Doing so you can add the Free delivery option to your listing and boost your listing search visibility.
Setting an acceptable price, maintaining high seller ratings and offering low delivery cost will help improve your chances to attract buyers.
What are selling limits (limits on eBay sellers)?
Selling limits (limits on eBay sellers) are the certain restrictions that eBay makes to control the sales quality.
eBay has 3 types of limits on sellers:
1. Account limits.
They include a limit on sold items, gross merchandise volume, and active items for sale.
When you work via the eBaymag tool, you can use only one eBay account. You can check your account limits in My eBay.
For example, you have a monthly limit on the number of active listings. This number includes all the listings that you created manually or automatically via eBaymag. If you are a successful seller and you reach the listings limit, write us and we consider the possibility to increase the limit. By this moment you should decrease the number of active listings to the limit.
Please note, that deactivating listings via the eBay interface or via eBaymag do not give you the option to post additional listings within selling limits, because the limits include the number of posted listings per month, not the number of active listings on your account.
- Category limits.
This is the limit on the number of items that can be listed in a calendar month in some categories. - Item limits.
These limits prohibit to list items which do not meet our requirements for quality, safety, and legality.
To increase the limits a seller should:
- have the positive story of buyer-seller relationship;
- demonstrate the ability to meet buyers requirements;
- meet eBay selling policies.
What is an item showcase?
An item showcase is a list of all items available for sale via eBaymag listings on a given international site. Showcases are created automatically upon listing creation. Therefore, all items that are available for sale will be included in the international site’s showcase.
On the Sites tab, you can find a list of all your item showcases, as well as active items and items in the process of being listed. To visit a given international eBay site’s showcase, go to the Sites tab, then select that site in the Site column.
Why create listings in bulk in .xlsx format?
As listing multiple items individually can take too long, eBaymag offers the option to add multiple items as an Excel table.
To list multiple items this way:
- Click Add an item, then Grab from Excel
- Download the file Template.xlsx from the Upload item window
- Fill in the item information
- Upload the file and click the Upload button
Note that only new items will be added; using this function is unsuitable for updating items that are already listed.
What is Shipping Policy?
To create a listing you need to create a Shipping Policy for it.
A Shipping Policy is a set of tariffs for the shipping of an item or group of items. The shipping profile also includes return policies and other information.
To create your Shipping Policy, go to the Shipping tab and click the Create Policy button on the right-hand side of the page. Then fill in the Shipping Policy template, specifying its name and selecting one or more tariffs. For your convenience, you can mark each Shipping Policy in different colors.
You can check by yourself in your Shipping Policy template whether the kind of shipping you require is possible for different international sites. To do this, select the icons of the sites you are interested in below the words Check the result on each site. If the specified shipping is not possible according to the international site rules, below the icons, you can see an explanation on that point.
There, you can also check a list of shipping exclusions.
When you fill in all the fields and check the shipping, click the Save button.
I’ve changed the quantity of items on eBay, but it’s unchanged on eBaymag. What should I do?
On the Items tab, click Sync quantities with eBay Button. Your inventory on eBaymag will be updated with the eBay listings. This only works one way: changing the inventory on eBaymag won’t change anything for original eBay listings.
How does eBaymag recommend items for publication?
Upon your registration, eBaymag will immediately recommend you to list certain items on certain sites, based on eBay internal data regarding international site relevance and your sales history. Listing the recommended items can increase your sales by up to 40%.
Why is my item listed in another category on an international site?
Every international eBay site has its own category tree. They are mostly the same, but differences can occur. It is most likely that eBaymag has picked the most fitting category for your item. For example, on ebay.co.uk, women’s sneakers are listed as Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women’s Shoes > Trainers, while on ebay.com they’re listed as Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women’s Shoes > Athletic Shoes.
If you disagree with the suggestions, you can change a category manually.
To change an item category:
- On the Items tab, enter the item’s page
- Scroll down to find its current category
- Click Select other
- Pick a fitting category from the list or enter it manually
Sometimes a category can’t be set automatically. If you see a notification saying so, select a category manually as described above.
How do I set different prices for different countries for the same item?
- On the Items tab, click the flag of the international site you want to set a different price for.
- You’ll enter that site’s mass edit page.
- Set the required prices in the Price column.
- The changes will apply to that site only.
International eBay sites
Why are some countries excluded from shipping in listings created via eBaymag?
This way, eBaymag enforces the eBay duplicate listing policy which states that an item can only be sold in a given country on a single international eBay site. Automatic exclusions protect your account from being blocked and prevent the buyers’ search results from being filled with multiple copies of the same listing in different languages.
Exclusions are applied automatically to copies of your listings on international sites. In the original listing, countries available for shipping do not change. For example, if you first list an item with international shipping on ebay.com, then list it on ebay.ca via eBaymag, shipment from ebay.com will remain international while shipment from ebay.ca will be available to Canada only.
What the legal restrictions for listings posting do international eBay sites have?
Legal restrictions on each international eBay site can be found in Help & Contact department of the proper international eBay site.
What are international eBay sites exchange rates for the cost of my items?
When you post a listing via eBaymag, the exchange rates for international sites are recalculated by Google Finance. In this case, if the exchange rate is changed, the price is recalculated automatically (the price in italics will not be recalculated).
At the same time, you can set the price of items in the currency of a international site by yourself. Keep in mind that if the price is set manually, it will remain fixed and will not be recalculated when the exchange rate changes.

- On the Items tab, enter the item’s page
- Scroll down to find its current category
- Click Select other
- Pick a fitting category from the list or enter it manually
Sometimes a category can’t be set automatically. If you see a notification saying so, select a category manually as described above.

- On the Items tab, click the flag of the international site you want to set a different price for.
- You’ll enter that site’s mass edit page.
- Set the required prices in the Price column.
- The changes will apply to that site only.
