To accept payments from buyers, you need to create a PayPal account. PayPal is a worldwide online payments system that allows you to securely send and accept payments.

We recommend you to create a PayPal account in advance, before you get your eBay seller account. But you can do it any time later.

If you already have an eBay account, you can skip this step by going directly to the seller’s registration page.

If you don't have an eBay account, it's time to create one right now.

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to

  3. You'll be redirected to the Registration page — it opens in new window or tab.


You can create an eBay account in several ways:

  1. By filling in the Registration form.
  2. By using Facebook account.
  3. By using Google account.


You need to follow a few simple rules when filling in the Registration form:

  1. Fill in the form using the Latin alphabet.
  2. Use your current email address.
  3. Remember or write down the password you use during registration. Do not transfer the password to third parties.
  4. Click Create Account Button.

How to create an eBay seller account

Now you have an eBay account and a PayPal account, so you can get an eBay seller account.

Please, provide your contact information filling in the Form.

Step-by-step guide:

You need to follow a few simple rules when filling in the Form:

  1. Fill in the Form using the Latin alphabet.
  2. Use your current email address. Customer support could ask you to provide documents to confirm it.
  3. Use your real telephone number, because at the next stage of registration you should to confirm it.

After filling in the Form with contact information, click Continue.

Confirming personal information

The registration system will ask you to confirm the phone number. To do this, enter the security code (PIN code) in the special field.

You can get the security code (PIN code) in two ways:

  • by SMS to the specified phone number;
  • by call to the specified phone number.

Enter the PIN you received and select Continue to finish updating your settings.


An eBay seller account created

An eBay seller account created. The Tell us what are you selling page will automatically open. At this step, it is not necessary to fill it in. You can return to it later.

There are only a couple of steps left to create your first listing. Click on the eBay logo and go to the main page.

Now you need to:

  • add a payment method to pay for any eBay selling fees or charges
  • link PayPal and eBay account.

How to set up a payment method to pay for any eBay selling fees or charges

  • Go to main page.
  • In the upper left corner click on the arrow next to your login.
  • Click on the Account Settings button.


  • Select the Account tab.
  • On the left select the Personal Information.
  • Look for Financial Information section on the page.


  • Select Update your automatic payment method.
  • Click the link in it.
  • You'll be redirected to the Automatic payment method page.

Setting up the Automatic payment method to pay for any eBay selling fees or charges

On this page, you can choose the Automatic payment method.

The best payment method is PayPal. So you can get paid for the goods and pay fees from the same account.



If you choose to pay by PayPal, you'll be redirected to the PayPal website to complete the process.

If you already have a PayPal account, after logging in to the PayPal site, you will be asked to confirm the selected payment method.

If you don't have a PayPal account yet, you need to register and confirm the chosen payment method.


To link your eBay account to your PayPal account

  • Follow the link or go to eBay main page
  • In the upper left corner click on the arrow next to your login.
  • Go to Account Settings.
  • On the My eBay page select the Account tab.
  • On the Account tab, click the PayPal Account link.


  • If you already have a PayPal account click the Link My PayPal Account button.


  • If you don't already have a PayPal account click the Register button.
  • You will be taken to the PayPal site. You'll be asked to log in to PayPal to finish linking your accounts.


Congratulations! You have an eBay seller account!

Some settings of an eBay Seller Account

There are two types of eBay seller accounts:

  • Personal, created for a private individual;
  • Business, created for a legal entity, that is, a company or a sole proprietor.

If you plan to sell on eBay as a legal entity, you need to change the type of account.

Go to My eBay page:

  1. On the left, in the Account tab, select the Personal Information.
  2. In the Personal Information go to Account Information, then select Account type and click Edit.
  3. Put the Business name in the form and click Change to Business Account.


It is important! When you change your account type, you need to change the eBay fees payment method, because the Business Account does not allow you to pay fees via PayPal.

Please, pay attention!

f your account is showing as unverified then you may have problems with eBay or you may be at risk from attempted fraud.

To avoid this, you need to verify your PayPal account.

To become a verified user, you must do the next steps in your PayPal account:

  1. Confirm your email address.

Go to the Profile tab, click Edit next to the email address you wish to confirm. Follow further instructions.

  1. Add and confirm your bank card. To do this, go to the Account tab in your account.
  • Linking the card to PayPal account will start when you click on the Bank Accounts and Cards button.
  • To begin, click on the Add card button in the card menu.
  • To link the card to PayPal, enter all the data and click the Save button.

To confirm your bank card that linked to PayPal account:

  • Click the card that needs to be confirmed to open information about it.
  • Click on the Confirm button. After that, PayPal will charge a certain amount from your card and transfer it to your wallet. Then you’ll receive an SMS that the money is written off with a code like this: PP*1234.
  • Click Confirm button again, you will be prompted to enter the code. Enter the code from the SMS.

To enter the code:

  • Log in to your PayPal account.
  • Click Profile.
  • Click My money.
  • Click Update beside Credit cards.
  • Follow further instructions.

A 4-digit PayPal code appears on your debit or credit card statement with the charge. Your code will look like this in the item description section of your statement: PayPal*1234 CODE or PP*1234 CODE.

If you view your card statements online, you can check for the code in a few days. Otherwise, check for the code when you receive your next statement by mail.

Note: PayPal will charge $1 from your card. Once you have confirmed your card, this amount is refunded to your PayPal account immediately or to your card within 30 days.

Your eBay seller account is ready to go.
