What you need to know

To help keep eBay a trusted marketplace for everyone, eBay monitors for risk factors that a seller may not be able to fulfill an order as expected. To help minimize potential disruptions for sellers as eBay completes these reviews, eBay's improved how it spots and addresses potential fulfillment issues — helping to keep your business running smoothly and reducing the need for action on your part.

Based on your feedback, eBay's made its review process for potential fulfillment issues more flexible. This way, eBay can better address your individual situation if any concerns come up.

Before this, if a potential risk was identified, restrictions could be placed on your account or listings while eBay manually reviewed orders to confirm delivery.

With the revised process, eBay will take a more flexible approach. In most cases, you'll get the chance to resolve the concern before any action is taken. eBay will also use tracking information to automatically release funds once orders are shown as delivered. This change helps prevent account disruptions while maintaining a trusted marketplace for everyone.

What it means for you

If eBay contacts you about a concern, eBay will provide clear, specific steps to help prevent restrictions — such as resolving unpaid balances, closing open claims, or uploading tracking information.

With these improvements, any next steps will be easier to handle, so you can keep growing your business. You won’t need to take any action unless eBay reaches out to you directly.

eBay is working to cut down on disruptions and keep communication clear, so you can focus on what matters: selling on eBay.

FAQs

Will I need to make any changes to my account settings or selling practices?

No immediate changes are required on your part. However, if specific actions are needed, eBay will contact you directly with clear instructions.

What should I do if I encounter fulfillment-related issues?

Continue to follow best practices for resolving delivery issues. If further action is needed, eBay will provide guidance tailored to your situation.

We’re introducing automated feedback to put your business in the best light.

What you need to know

Your effort should never go unnoticed — and eBay has made sure it won’t.

Starting September 3, 2025, eBay will provide automated feedback for eligible orders, giving you more opportunities to increase your feedback score.

This October, you can also expect improvements to how eBay handles mixed feedback. If a buyer’s comment includes both removable and non-removable content, eBay will give them the option to edit the removable part so their feedback is published.

What’s changing

Automated feedback

Most transactions go smoothly, with sellers providing great service, but that hasn’t always been reflected in buyer feedback. Starting September 3, 2025, you’ll automatically receive feedback for successful transactions that meet all of these criteria:

  • You shipped the order with tracking and it arrived on time
  • The buyer hasn’t left feedback
  • The buyer hasn’t reported any issues

If a buyer decides to leave feedback, eBay will replace the automated message with their message. If the buyer returns the item or reports an issue, eBay will remove the automated feedback.

More flexible handling of mixed feedback

eBay is also improving how mixed feedback affects your profile. Starting this October, when you ask eBay to remove feedback and a buyer’s comment contains both removable and non-removable content, eBay will ask them to edit the removable part. If the buyer revises it, eBay will publish their feedback. If they don’t, the feedback won’t appear on your profile at all. eBay will notify you whenever eBay asks a buyer to revise their comment.

See eBay full feedback policy to learn more.

Next steps

You don't need to take any action to benefit from automated feedback. You'll start seeing this feedback appear in September.

FAQs. Automated feedback

When can I expect automated feedback on the site?

Automated feedback will appear in your profile starting September 3, 2025.

What if I don’t have tracking on my orders?

Your orders won’t qualify for automated feedback without tracking to confirm on-time delivery.

Will these improvements push down real buyer feedback on my profile?

No. Buyers see feedback ranked by relevance, not by date, so meaningful buyer comments stay prominent. Only you, as the seller, see feedback sorted by recency. Automated feedback won’t hide the feedback that matters most to buyers.

Can this feature override buyer feedback?

No. Buyer feedback always takes priority. We only apply automated feedback if no feedback or issues are reported within seven days of confirmed delivery. If a buyer leaves feedback after that, it immediately replaces the automated message.

Will buyers see that eBay left feedback for them?

No. Buyers aren’t notified when eBay adds automated feedback. They’re free to leave feedback as they normally would, and if they do, we’ll replace the automated feedback.

FAQs. Mixed feedback

What happens if a buyer doesn’t respond to their revision request?

If the buyer doesn’t respond to the request to revise feedback, the original feedback won’t appear on your profile.

What happens if a buyer leaves the same feedback as before?

After the buyer revises their feedback, we will review the new comment to make sure it follows our policy. If the buyer doesn’t address what we’ve asked them to edit, or if there is some other policy violation, we will not publish the revised feedback.

Can buyers downgrade their rating during the revision request?

No, the buyer cannot downgrade their rating. For example, if they selected a neutral rating in their first submission, they won’t be able to downgrade their rating to negative.

Will you stop removing feedback?

No, if the entire feedback qualifies for removal, it will continue to be removed without asking the buyer to revise.

Will eBay’s revision requests impact the number of seller revision requests I can send to the buyer?

No, these revision requests from eBay will not count towards your feedback revision requests.

What you need to know

eBay is on a mission to make the marketplace the top destination for buying and selling Parts & Accessories (P&A). Based on buyer feedback, easy and free returns play a crucial role when choosing where to shop. To better meet these expectations and give you a competitive edge, eBay is updating the return policy for eligible P&A listings by offering free returns. The eBay team is here to support you, so eBay will automatically subsidize these return label costs by 50% going forward.

Driving growth and buyer satisfaction

Starting July 15, P&A sellers are required to offer a minimum of free 30-day returns, creating a smoother and more consistent shopping journey. This streamlined policy helps eliminate confusion so buyers can have a hassle-free returns experience, strengthening their trust both in your business and in eBay.

Concerned about offering free returns? eBay’s got you covered

While offering free returns can help boost your sales and have a positive impact on your business, eBay understands that you may have concerns. That’s why eBay is taking these steps to support you:

  • Subsidized eBay return labels: Enjoy a 50% reduction in label costs, applied automatically to ease return shipping expenses when you use eBay Labels
  • Continued seller protections: eBay is continuously monitoring buyer fraud to ensure eBay has stronger safeguards in place to protect your business
  • Targeted marketing campaigns: eBay is promoting free returns to help attract more buyers to your P&A listings

P&A listings required to offer free returns

If your Parts & Accessories listings meet the following criteria, you’ll be required to offer free returns:

  • The item is listed on eBay.com and located in the US
  • The item is being shipped to a buyer in the US
  • The price of the item is more than $10
  • The item is new or new other
  • It’s a fixed-price Buy It Now listing

Next steps

Starting from July 15, you should offer free returns for new and live eligible P&A listings. By doing so, you’ll benefit from the 50% subsidized eBay return labels. eBay begins automatically updating all eligible P&A listings that were live before July 15 to reflect this new return policy. In the meantime, eBay asks that you review your listings to ensure the update has been made.

FAQs

Which P&A categories are excluded from the updated return policy?

Listings in categories listed below are excluded from eBay updated return policy and aren’t required to offer free returns:

Car & Trucks:

  • Wheels (179679)
  • Tires (179680)
  • Tire & Wheel packages (179681)
  • Other Wheel & Tire Parts (179684)
  • Auto Transmissions (171115)
  • Manual Transmissions (171117)
  • Complete Engines (33615)

ATV, Side-by-Side & UTV:

  • Tires (263048)
  • Wheels & Tire Packages (263051)

All P&A categories:

  • Listings with local pick up only
  • Listings where shipping uses freight services

When will the subsidized eBay return labels be available, and how can I use them?

The reduced-rate eBay return labels are available for eligible returns once the updated return policy took effect starting July 15. They’ll be automatically applied and you’ll only be charged 50% of the label cost for transactions and returns after July 15.

Do I have to use eBay to generate shipping labels?

No, you can upload your own label, but the 50% reduction isn’t applicable to non-eBay-generated labels.

Is the subsidized eBay Label applicable to all types of returns?

The 50% reduction in eBay labels applies only when a buyer changes their mind after purchasing an item and wants to return it.

If a buyer wishes to return an item because it doesn’t fit their vehicle, eBay will cover the cost of the return shipping under eBay Guaranteed Fit. If the buyer reports that the item arrived damaged or doesn’t match the listing description, the seller is responsible for the full cost of the return label.

I already offer free returns. Can I still use the subsidized eBay Labels?

Yes, you can take advantage of the subsidized eBay return labels starting July 15 for instances when a buyer changes their mind after purchasing an item that’s eligible under the updated policy.

Can I opt out of providing free returns?

If you're listing in the applicable P&A categories, participation is required. Free returns address a key buyer need in the P&A industry, and eBay is confident this policy update will help you grow your business on the marketplace.

What happens if I don’t offer free returns for my eligible P&A listings?

Later this summer, you’ll no longer be able to list in the eligible P&A categories if you don’t provide free returns. To stay compliant and continue selling P&A, eBay encourages you to offer free returns and take advantage of subsidized eBay Labels.
