What you need to know
eBay is dedicated to empowering sellers with tools that enhance their marketing strategies. As part of this commitment, eBay is excited to announce an update to its budget management for priority campaigns, moving from weekly to monthly budget averaging effective June 18, 2025. This change offers greater flexibility to optimize your ad spend effectively.
How it works
eBay’s new pacing model uses your target daily budget as a guideline to efficiently plan your monthly advertising spend. This refreshed approach helps you get the most out of your monthly budget by increasing spend on days with high potential and reducing it on lower-opportunity days. eBay has also put safeguards in place in order to help avoid premature spend exhaustion before month end.
Rest assured — your spend will never exceed 30.4 times your target daily budget in a calendar month, or more than twice your daily target in a single day. This smarter approach helps maximize campaign performance by making the most of high-traffic periods while keeping your overall budget in check.
Keep in mind that adjusting during the calendar month to a different target daily budget may affect this distribution, so adjustments should be made thoughtfully to maintain optimal pacing.
Understanding changes made during the month
With the shift to monthly budget pacing, your ad spend is now calculated based on the calendar month. Here’s how it works across different scenarios:
- Campaign start during the month: Your total monthly spend won’t exceed your target daily budget multiplied by the remaining days in the calendar month, including the start day
- For example: If you start a new campaign with a $10 target daily budget on January 15th, there are 17 days left in the month (including the 15th & 31st). Therefore, the maximum spend for the remainder of the month would be $170 ($10×17 remaining days).
- Budget change during the month: Your total monthly spend won’t exceed the amount already spent plus your new target daily budget multiplied by the remaining days in the calendar month
- For example: If you raise your campaign's target daily budget from $10 to $15 on January 15th, assuming you've spent $150 by then, your total monthly budget will increase from $304 to $405 [i.e. $150 + (17*$15)]. Therefore you will have $255 left to spend for the rest of the month.
- Campaign end during the month: Your total monthly spend won’t exceed your target daily budget multiplied by the number of days from the start of the calendar month up to and including the campaign's end date
- For example: If your campaign starts on the 1st with a $10 daily budget and is set to end on the 15th of the month, the maximum spend for the month would be $150 ($10×15 days, including the 15th).
Tips for setting a target daily budget
- Align with business goals: Set a budget that reflects your product profit margins and strategic objectives
- Start small: If this is your first priority campaign, consider a conservative budget, and scale as you identify successful strategies
- Use eBay's recommendations: Leverage eBay's suggested budgets, which consider listing attributes and competition for optimal performance
- Plan for monthly cap: Keep in mind the 30.4 multiplier cap to avoid budget limitations
- Adjust wisely: Mid-month changes impact your budget and performance; use real-time insights
- Be flexible: Understand that daily spend may fluctuate above or below your target as eBay algorithms optimize to find you the best opportunities
- Regularly review performance: Continuously monitor and refine your strategy using eBay's campaign insights
Next steps
No action is required on your part. Your priority campaigns will automatically begin using a monthly budget pacing window (since June 18 2025). eBay recommends monitoring performance and adjusting your strategy to align with your goals. For more details on this update, please visit eBay ads blog.
FAQs
What is the maximum my priority campaign can spend each day?
Your target daily budget is a guideline, not a fixed daily limit. eBay’s pacing system may spend less on some days and more on others, up to twice your highest daily budget for that day. Over the month, your total spend won’t exceed 30.4 times your daily budget, unless you change the budget during the month.
Will I always be charged my full daily budget?
Not necessarily, your target daily budget is averaged over the calendar month, so daily spend may vary. Some days you might spend less than your daily budget, and on others, up to twice the amount — depending on campaign performance and opportunity.
For example: If your daily budget is $10, your campaign could spend up to $20 on a single day. However, over the course of a month, your total spend won’t exceed $304 (based on the average month length of 30.4 days).
eBay defines a month as starting on the 1st and ending on the last day, regardless of the number of days in that month.
What factors influence how eBay paces my spend?
eBay uses real-time platform data and forecasted traffic to predict high-engagement periods and adjust your budget accordingly. eBay’s systems also factor in past performance, seasonal trends, and category-specific activity to shift your spend towards times with higher sales potential.

What you need to know
Earlier this year, eBay introduced new item condition options for pre-loved clothing, resulting in an increase in buyer satisfaction. Building on that success, these new options are now expanding across the rest of pre-loved fashion, on everything from jewelry to sneakers. Starting August 5, you see these options on both your new and existing listings. They’re designed to give buyers a clearer idea of your item’s condition to help them shop with confidence, as well as helping you reduce disputes and returns for a smoother selling experience.
Once this change takes effect, any existing ‘Pre-owned’ listings will update to “Pre-owned — Good.” You’ll need to review and adjust these to the condition that best reflects your items.
Build more trust with your buyers
Currently, you can only select “Pre-owned” when listing the condition of your pre-loved fashion items. Since it’s such a broad term, buyers don’t always know what to expect, which can lead to disappointment, disputes, or even costly returns.
To enhance transparency and help prevent these issues, eBay is introducing three new options to better describe the condition of your pre-loved fashion items. These are:
Pre-owned — Excellent
- Like new, with little to no visible signs of use
- The item is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use, such as faint surface marks, gentle creasing, or light wear on the fabric. Any subtle imperfections should be clearly shown and described in your listing
Pre-owned — Good
- Gently used, with light signs of wear and/or visible flaws
- The item is in good condition with some signs of use such as minor scuffing, light scratches, softening of materials, or small pulls. All imperfections should be clearly shown and described in your listing
Pre-owned — Fair
- Well-used, with heavier signs of wear, visible flaws, and/or missing or damaged components
- The item shows noticeable signs of use, for example worn edges, discoloration, visible scratches, or missing details. All flaws should be clearly shown and described in your listing
These clearer condition options will help buyers make more informed purchasing decisions, resulting in fewer issues, more positive feedback, and a better experience for both you and the buyer.
Using these conditions will also give your items more visibility in the search results when buyers are filtering by condition, helping them find exactly what they’re looking for.
Next steps
These conditions will be available on your new and existing listings from August 5.
On this date, any existing “Pre-owned” listings for pre-loved fashion items will automatically change to the “Pre-owned — Good” condition. You’ll need to review these to make sure this condition accurately reflects each item. If needed, you can easily edit and choose a more suitable option from the new options.
How to edit your listings
Go to Selling Activity in My eBay or your Active listings in Seller Hub. If you have lots of listings, you can save time by using eBay bulk listing tools which allow you to edit multiple listings at once.

- Use the filters to narrow down your active listings by eBay category, for example Footwear, Handbags, Watches or Jewelry.
- Then select the listings you want to update and click the Edit button.
- This will take you to the Revise Listings page where you can make bulk edits. If you have lots of edits to make, try reordering the columns so all of the required fields are on the same screen. Just click Customize Columns to add, remove, or reorder them as needed.
- Once the Condition column is visible, click the column header to sort your listings by item condition (for example, New, Pre-Owned, etc.).
What happens if the item condition I’ve selected doesn’t accurately describe my item?
If your item condition is inaccurate, it can prevent your listings from appearing in relevant search results, or lead to increased returns and negative feedback from buyers, potentially affecting your seller standards. eBay recommends reading through the definitions and choosing the condition that best represents your item to avoid any issues.
What if a buyer wants to return an item because the item condition wasn't as expected?
If this happens, eBay recommends working with your buyer to resolve the issue and avoid a “case closed without seller resolution.”
