How to Participate in the promotion
1. Check the activity
You can always see red promotional reminders in the "Sale & Marketing Events" column of the top navigation bar in your CBT Seller Dashboard, as shown in the image below.
Click on the "Sale & Marketing Events" tab and directly view all available promotions in the "Active Promotion" section. We recommend checking your CBT Seller Dashboard regularly to avoid missing out on business opportunities.
*Note: Some promotions involve email invitations.
Please ensure your primary email address is updated regularly with your eBay account manager. This is crucial because many eBay promotions will be sent to your primary email address. Therefore, please ensure that this email address is valid and check it regularly.
eBay will typically use this email address (ebay_notification@ebay.com ) to send promotion information to sellers. The email title will typically include "eBay Deals & Events!" To ensure you receive promotion information emails promptly and prevent eBay emails from being blocked, please whitelist the following email address: ebay_notification@ebay.com
When you receive a promotion email from eBay, you can open the Excel attachment in the email, which will show which of your current listings are eligible to participate in the promotion. Please select those listings which you want to enter in the promotion (from the ones selected by eBay as above), log in to your CBT Seller Dashboard to view the specific promotion terms and conditions.
2. Promotion registration
Go to "CBT Seller Dashboard" > "Sales & Marketing Events> “eBay Best Sellers Events " to register for the promotion:

Check the promotions you can sign up for in the "Active Promotions" section and click on "Confirm to Participate”.
The promotion details page is generally divided into the following main sections:
- Promotion Name
- Promotion progress bar to see the current stage of the promotion. The promotion stage may vary depending on the promotion settings.
- The promotion status bar includes promotion status reminders, registration deadline, promotion start/end time, reward claim deadline, etc. The promotion steps vary depending on the activity settings.
- Detailed description of the promotion, including promotion terms and conditions.
- Registration operation area on CBT Seller Dashboard
*Please note that eBay may have different requirements for listings participating in the promotion based on the needs of the promotion. Before selecting which of your listings you want to enter in the promotion, please carefully review the promotion description, full terms and conditions, and listing information to understand which of your listings can be entered in the promotion and the pricing and other terms and conditions applicable to such listings. Confirm that your listings and their details you have entered in the promotion meet the promotion requirements (for example: price, quantity, promotion time, etc.) before selecting “Submit”.
Steps to submit promotion registration:
After clicking on “Confirm to Participate”, you will be directed into the promotion page. When you scroll down to the listing ID list, you will see the final listing ID list selected for the promotion.
You can now check the details of each listing, and tick listings that you agree to be featured in the promotion. Please carefully read and check that you understand the terms regarding the automatic price change. Once you have accepted our promotion terms and conditions, you will be able to submit your confirmation for the promotion.
Sometimes you may have too many listings to individually enter in the promotion. You can bulk upload the listing ID list. At the bottom, you will be able to download your submission template. We will provide a listing ID list that may be potentially featured in the promotion.
You are required to follow the steps below to complete your submission via “Bulk upload”:
- Download full listing list in excel format. It consists of the list of items that may be potentially featured in the promotion.
- Select only the listing IDs in the excel that you want to participate.
- Click on “Bulk upload” option and input the listing IDs that you want to participate.
- Click on “Submit” for your selected listing IDs.
Before you submit your listings, please read the full terms and conditions carefully.
Note: Best Seller Promotion offers automatic price adjustments, please carefully review the terms and conditions on the promotion page. A yellow highlight will appear in the registration area (as shown below). Seller Hub will automatically adjust your listing's price based on the "Promotion Price" you've registered for, without manual intervention. However, due to the complexity of seller backend settings, automatic price adjustments may fail. Therefore, sellers are required to review participating listings at the start of the promotion to ensure they have been adjusted to the promotion price. After the promotion ends, eBay will automatically revert the item price to the pre-promotion price. You may thereafter change the item price to any price of your choice. At the end of the Promotion if eBay fails to revert the price to the pre-promotion price, please change the item price to any price of your choice.
Automatic price adjustments are implemented through the eBay Markdown sale events feature.
Just like manually creating an event like this, a corresponding event will be automatically created under Seller Hub > Marketing > Markdown sale for listings that you successfully enter for the promotion and meet the requirements 24 hours before the promotion start date. The event name is automatically generated by the system, but it will include the promotion ID corresponding to the Seller Hub event to facilitate locating the corresponding promotion information. For listings that do not meet the price adjustment requirements for the eBay Markdown sale events feature, the system will automatically adjust the listing price to the promotion price (without the strike-through effect) after the promotion begins. In these cases, no corresponding event will be created in Seller Hub.
3. Click to read "Other Terms and Conditions.
4. Check "I have read and accept this Promotions Terms and Conditions ."
5. Click on the "Preview and Submit" button
to complete your registration. After the Promotion Start date, your campaign status will be updated to ‘Promotion in progress’.
For "Most Popular Favorite Listing Promotion (Coupon)" events, please review the "Coupon Summary" displayed on the event details page. If you register for the promotion, the system will automatically create a corresponding coupon event under Seller Hub > Marketing > Promotions based on the settings in the "Coupon Summary" during the promotion period. This coupon will only be valid for the listings you have entered for the promotion. Please check this carefully when registering.
6. Promotion In Progress
When the promotion begins, you are required to check and confirm if prices are adjusted correctly. You can do so on the promotion page in your CBT Seller Dashboard. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see the same list of items as in confirmation stage. The result of price change is displayed in the column of ‘Markdown Status’.
If you see the status marked “unsuccessful”, you are required to confirm that the display price of each selected listing has been changed to the promotion price at the start of the promotion. If the display price of any selected listing does not accurately reflect the promotion price, you are required to change the display price to the promotion price as soon as possible. If you don’t accept the promotion price, you will still be eligible to sell your listings at prices of your choice, however, you will not be eligible to participate in the promotion and earn incentive.
For listings that successfully mark down, you will see the adjusted price on the view item page.
After the promotion ends, you are required to check that the display price of each selected listing has been changed to the pre-promotion price. You may thereafter change the item price to any price of your choice. If the display price of any selected listing does not accurately reflect the pre-promotion price, you are required to change the display price to any price of your choice.. eBay shall not be liable for any loss or damages arising from any inaccurate price information that may occur either during the promotion or after it.
7. Validating your Incentive
After the promotion ends, some sellers may have related promotion incentives. If the promotion you participated in is shown as "’Validating your reward", please be patient and wait for the results.
8. Claim your reward
Please check the incentive amount you will get related to this promotion.
9. Promotion Completed
You can see a list of completed and unregistered promotions under "Completed Promotions”.
Best Seller Promotion FAQs
Why is my listing not selected for the promotion?
There are two possible scenarios:
- Best Seller promotion may have certain listing selection criteria, such as the listing's category, item price, GMV and sales volume over the past 30 days, whether the account is eBay Top Rated Seller (“eTRS”) or above standard, any shipping criteria. If the criteria are not met, the chance of being selected for the promotion is low. In addition, eBay may from time to time apply additional criteria to select high performing listings.
- Your account and listings were selected for the eBay promotion, but you didn't log in to your CBT Seller Dashboard to register. eBay has found that over half of eBay sellers don’t register or formally sign up for the promotion before the registration deadline, making themselves ineligible for the promotions.

This problem may be caused by the listing being unable to modify the price due to various reasons. If the seller finds this problem, it is recommended to manually modify the listing as soon as possible to reflect Promotion Price.
Will eBay automatically adjust the prices of our listings for all Best Seller promotions?
For promotions where the system automatically adjusts the price, you will see an important yellow message on the promotion registration page.
In such promotions, at the start and end of the promotion, the system will automatically adjust the price of the listings at the start and end of the promotion, eliminating the need for sellers to manually adjust prices. Sellers should carefully read the terms and conditions of each promotion before registering, as they will explain whether the system will automatically adjust the price of their listings.
How does the multi-attribute listing system automatically adjust prices?
Depending on the promotion settings, the system will automatically modify the price of the listing to the "promotion price" confirmed by the seller when the promotion starts.
The price will automatically revert to the pre-promotion price when the promotion ends. You may thereafter change the item price to any price of your choice. If the modification fails, please make a manual modification to any price of your choice.
Do sellers need to adjust prices back to normal after the promotion ends?
For automatic price reduction promotions, at the end of the promotions, eBay will automatically help sellers adjust back to the pre-promotion price specified in the CBT Seller dashboard.
However, due to the complexity of the seller's backend settings, the automatic price adjustment may fail after the promotion ends. Therefore, the seller needs to review whether the listings they have entered in the promotion have been adjusted back to the pre-promotion price after the promotion ends. For listings that have not been successfully adjusted, the seller should manually adjust the listing price to any price of their choice to avoid unnecessary losses.
Can I enter only part of my listings in this promotion?
Yes. eBay pre-selects some of your listings for the promotion. You may choose which of these should be entered in the promotion.
During the event, if I successfully register but manually lower the price of my listing, can I still get the incentive?
The incentive has nothing to do with the form of price reduction. Whether the system automatically reduces the price or the seller manually reduces the price, as long as the transaction meets the incentive criteria, seller can get incentive.
